The owner of this site and business is Michael J Wellik. Mike has been collecting and growing alpine strawberry varieties for nearly 25 years. In the last 10 years he has added other species and varieties to his collection and has redefined this collection by calling it gourmet strawberries. This collection consists of the following species:

Fragaria vesca, F. moschata, F. virginiana, F. viridis, F. orientalis, and F. x ananassa

The collection of F. vesca (alpine strawberries) is the largest known collection of varieties in the world.

In addition to being a collector, Mike is a researcher. Areas of interest and research include: Variety Production, Container production, Breeding, Organic methods including vermicompost and vermicompost tea, Labor Saving Equipment and Methods, and others.

The BLOG is being setup to release the data gathered over 20+ years on a fee basis. Consulting is available for commercial growers or growers interested in commercializing gourmet strawberry production.
